Born to Golf, Forced to Work

Here we are at the June Linky Party and I'm celebrating with a Father's Day golf theme. Sadly my Father passed about 20 years and there are always a few sad moments for me on this day. He was a concert pianist and a portrait of him sits on my grand piano. My Dad taught me for the first 15 years of my life and when I entered the music department at university for the first time in my life I had another teacher. Whenever I play I see my Dad's portrait and thank him for his guidance in music and most aspects of my life. If he was still with us this card would have been for him as he also loved to play golf.

Like most North Americans my husband Ron and I have a warped relationship with our dog Kodi. We refer to each other as his "Mommy and Daddy" and he gives us gifts on special occasions like Father's Day. I made this card for Kodi to give to Ron along with a new golf bag.

Most of you have probably figured out by now that I love depth in my cards and what better way to accomplish this than with a step card. This one is a side step and my tutorial is instructions for creating one of your own.

I used Crafty Secrets "Golf Time" for the golf aspects of this card. This stamp set will soon be loaded to the online store. The trees are a set of Stampin Up stamps. The golf ball was created by using a eb folder (swiss dot) and cutting out a circle. The grass is a Martha Stewart punch. The tag is Spellbinders. The golfer was coloured with copics. It's mounted on burlap.

This close up shows what kind of depth these cards give you.

SIDE STEP TUTORIAL

Supplies:
- 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" piece of cardstock
-Scor pal
-Paper cutter

Step 1: Place the 5 1/2" side of cardstock against bottom edge of cutter at the 3" mark (orange strip at right side of cutter) start at 1" (bottom of slit) and cut up to the 6 1/2" ruler mark.

Step 2: Place the 8 1/2" side of the cardstock at the top edge of your Scor pal. The slip you created in Step 1 divided the cardstock into 2 sections one is 2 1/2" wide and the other is 3" wide. The 2 1/2" side should be the one at the top. Scor this section at 4 1/4"

Step 3: Now vertically flip the cardstock so the 3" wide section is at the top. Score this section at 1", 2", 3 1/4",  4 1/2", and 6 1/2".

Step 4: The first fold should be the single fold on the 2 1/2" side. Then make alternate mountain and valley folds until it looks like this.

Step 5: This is the fun part, now you get to get creative and decorate it!Please come and join our May Linky Party where you can add a sample(s) you've created using any of our products and receive a $6.00 coupon and one random.org winner will get a $50.00 gift card!
